EXO proved its musical influence by getting nominated for three awards at The 11th Korean Music Awards.
Korean Music Awards’s selection committee held a press conference on February 4 at Korean Press Center, and revealed the nominees for the upcoming ceremony.
According to the committee, EXO has been nominated for ‘Song of the Year,’ ‘New Singer of the Year’ and ‘Best Dance & Electronic Song’ with its mega-hit Growl. EXO is the only idol group who has been nominated in three different categories.
EXO sold over one million copies of its first full-length album XOXO, hitting the coveted record for the first time in twelve years in K-pop, and received numerous awards from music award ceremonies.
The nominees of The 11th Korean Music Awards have been selected based on the albums released between December 1 of 2012 through November 30 of 2013.
The committee is made up of 70 professionals in or related to music, including academics, music critics, news reporters, PDs for music programs, civic group representatives and more.
The Korean Music Awards gives out awards based on musical achievements, and not on album sales records.
The ceremony will take place on February 28 at Yes24’s Move Hall.
